Framing

Two FBI agents who are in desperate need of saving their reputation secretly take a case that isn't suppose to be theirs. The case regarding Tiffany and Brittany Wilson, two white rich spoiled girls who are in great danger and don't even know it. Instead of letting their partners watch the girls carefully like their were assigned to do they decide to pose as the girls so that if they are kidnapped it will be them instead of the actual girls. These two FBI agents go on a series of funny events attempting to find the kidnappers and reclaim themselves as actual FBI agents who can do more than just mess up cases.  (White Chicks)

Mobile framing is the used for the ability to shoot a frame while the camera is moving. Mobile framing also has alot of different styles in which the camera can be moved. The style of mobile framing using the tilt camera movement was done in the dressing room scene in this movie. As Lisa begins putting on her clothes Kevin (Shawn Wayans) posed as Tiffany Wilson is looking at her which is shown through the tilt camera movement.Although Lisa thinks she looks horrible Kevin think she looks great. As the movement of the camera goes with as she pulls her skirt up serves as a great example of tilt camera movement.

An example of a long take would be when the girls began to battle each other at dancing. This take goes on for about three minutes to emulate how important this is to the girls. Marcus and Kevin's (posing as Brittany and Tiffany) friends began dancing against their rivals but eventually lose the dance battle. Seconds later Marcus and Kevin (posed as Brittany and Tiffany) began to dance winning the dance battle and making the girls feel more confident about themselves because someone from their circle beat their rivals at dancing in front of a lot of people. The movement of the girls dancing serves as shots that make up for a long take.

Off screen and onscreen Space is portrayed in this scene because even though a thief have stolen Kevin's (posing as Tiffany) purse he chases after him because his gun and badge is in the purse. When chasing after him the camera shows how the girls jump in the car to follow Kevin. Even though while this is going on Kevin isn't in the screen the audience can put together that Kevin is still chasing after the thief. The camera illustrates proof that the chase scene serves as an awareness to how much space is between the cops in the car, the girls in the car and Kevin and the thief.

Editing

This movie is everything that a scary movie is not suppose to be hilarious! The film is a sequel from the Scream movie's that were made to be scary. In this film Cindy is still running from a killer that witnessed them accidentally kill a man last Halloween. Every since then Cindy and all of her friends that are still alive have been going through pure hell with the ghost face killer who continues to strike. The group of friends go through a series of hilarious events to escape the killer and his madness. (IMDb.com)

Scary movie took a lot of ideas from a lot of different films and brought them into one. This is a strategy that almost every great film maker uses, because without the past realistically there would not be a lot of actual good future films today. Editing serves as an extremely important part in any film. Editing allows the director to freely make any type of mistakes while filming and easily fix them. Editing isn't only used for that soul purpose editing is also used to create a form of realism throughout the film. An example of editing that I found in this film was the use of a jump cut, although the three young men that are screaming "Wassup" into the phone the camera still allows us to still view the faces of the other people. The primary example of the jump cut would be between Shorty Meeks (Marlon Waynans) and his friend in the hat because they are the primary two that are visible at the same time, although the director does jump cuts which provide as close ups on the person who is speaking.

Another example of editing that was influenced throughout this film would be continuity editing. In the scene where all of the men are smoking marijuana together and getting high throughout the whole scene demonstrates the theme that is kept continuously from shot to shot when they are discussing how good the weed is. When the men realize that there are no more papers to roll the marijuana in the next shot shows them improvising backing a bong out of the fish tank, this serves as another example of continuous shots. The lighting in the room remains constant throughout the whole scene even when the alleged killer comes to the door and joins then eventually. The director also spends more time on the shots that contain more detail for an example their after effect of smoking is concentrated on longer than the actual smoking that was being done.
Long shots are also apparent when the men are laughing after playing on the phone (1:12-1:37). This scene could be used as a down time in the film believing that everything is okay until the rapping scene arrives (1:42) that is automatically jump cut from the playing on the phone scene. After the fun and games are over the killer strikes again only living Shorty Meeks on his feet. All of these examples give a great example as to how editing really makes a difference on how you use it. Scary movie is an amazing film that uses a lot of different techniques and wouldn't have been as successful without the editing process.

Mis-en-Scence of The Nutty Professor

Imagine having a great idea, and making it come to life! That's exactly what Sherman Klump (Eddie Murphy) did. Professor Klump has always been challenged with being over weight all his life, and he's always had a problem with it but since he's had a new found admirer Carla (Jada Pickett) who is an admirer or Professor Klump and his work is a chemist graduate student at Wellman College. Losing weight is never an easy task but can definitely be something much harder for a heavier person to do. Especially coming from a family that embraces being overweight. 

Klump works up enough courage to ask Carla if she wants to go on a date, surprisingly she says yes. Everything goes well throughout the whole date until they both attend a comedy club that brings the date to a horrible ending. Reggie Warrington (Dave Chappelle) is the comedian of the night that uses Klump as the main topic of his jokes, he mainly talks about Klumps weight that goes a little overboard and becomes a very uncomfortable situation for both Carla and Klump. After that night at the comedy club this is the moment where Klump makes the decision to take the formula that hasn't been tested yet on himself in desperate need to lose weight. A DNA restructing weight loss formula that the professor has been working on for some time seems to be the only answer that would be quick and easy with helping him to start losing weight, so he thought. The DNA restructing weight loss formula inevitably does not work and turns Professor Klump to some type of alter ego named Buddy Love (Eddie Murphy) that is a sex crazed man that is extremely outspoken and rude. Although Professor Klump had lost a lot of weight and looked ideal like he wanted the attitude of Buddy Love was not what he was expecting.

When Buddy Love first derives he's not that bad to Klump because he's ultimately having fun in a slimmer body. But when Buddy decides to take credit for Klumps DNA restructing weight loss formula things began to take a turn for the worst and Klump realizes that he needs to get rid of Buddy fast. He ultimately destroys any trace of Buddy in effort to getting rid of him but Buddy stages a diet drink that Klump drinks and brings Buddy back to life in time to try and take credit of everything. Buddy testosterone levels are extremely high (60,000%) which makes him eventually end up transforming back into Klump.
The lighting, setting and costume and makeup ties this entire film into realism. Although some things that are portrayed throughout the film doesn't serve as a real function most of it did. For an example a DNA restructing weight loss formula more than likely won't turn a human being into another human being. The setting of the film takes place in the 90's current time during the time it was made. That assumption can be made because of the way the actors are dressed in 90's attire. Their environment presented evidence as well, we as an audience can make the assumption that it took place in the 90's because the actors are attending a predominantly black comedy show something that has not been around during the 20's and 30's. The actors costums and make-up fit the theme of the film. Klumps attire is professional looking because he is a teacher at Wellman college, the students dress as students would, and Klumps families attire gives the idea to the audience that they maybe southern people because their clothes aren't too flashy, just really ordinary and plain looking.

The lighting in the film fluctuated a lot through out the film. Frontal lighting was used at dinner table scenes such as this one above. The film touched every aspect of mis-en-scene making the cast and the lighting reflect the moods and actions that were being taken place.

Mis-en-Scence of Daddy Day Care

Can you imagine a man attempting to perform the primary care of a lot of children at once? Most people would argue that the primary care of any child should come from his or her mother. In the case of Charlie Hinton (Eddie Murphy) opening up a daycare was his best idea yet. Charlie and his friend Phil (Jeff Garlin) get layed off from their jobs from a large food company in product development. After being layed off Charlie ultimately becomes a stay at home dad which motivates him to open a daycare. Charlie knew that this would not be possible with some kind of help so Charlie asks Phil to join him knowing that he was layed off as well. From product development to day care the men open and try to start a successful business but near by competition begins to hear about their success and imediately trys to wipe out their competition (Daddy Day Care).
The Mis-en-scence of this film relies very heavily on costume and make up. With the costume in make up in the movie it would be somewhat hard to recognize which student belongs to which day care considering the fact that daddy day care didn't require any type of uniform while Chapman Academy did. These served a a distinctive difference throughout the movie. The parents of the children also played a huge role, just from what the parents of the children wore you could almost guess their social class. Some parents dressed in expensive clothing and other's dressed in clothing that was more simple giving the impression that one parent might belong to a different social class than the other.
The lighting in the film for the most part was extremely bright because alot of the scenes took place outside, leaving light to be projected from all types of angles. Frontal lighting and it's tendency to eliminate shadows are used alot throughout this film. An example of frontal lighting in this film is when Charlie takes one of the children from day care to the bathroom and he says "he missed". When Charlie opens the door frontal lighting is used to ensure that the audience can see his facial expressions and what he is trying to implement throughout the scene.

Time and space can also be implemented throughout the same science because the director chooses what we get to see and for how long. We as an audience never saw the actual mess that the boy created. Non verbals are very apparent which allows us as the audience to put the hints together to come up with the conclusion that the bathroom had to look really bad. When Charlie looks up this creates the illusion of shallow space. The ceiling looks way closer than it actually is, because the camera angle doesn't move allowing us to believe that the mess on the ceiling is directly above him possibly only inches from his head.
The movement and performance of the actors worked well with what they were trying to portray. All of the characters personality fit their roles and the movement throughout the movie coincides with what is actually going on. The setting of the movie takes place in current time setting which makes it easier for the audience to identify with. In today's modern society most women and men believe that the mother of a child would do better at taking care of children than a man would so therefore a lot of thoughts and misconceptions care be explored. The evidence that proves that this took place in current times is expressed through the casts attire and environment. Daddy daycare was a success, which was probably done on purpose by the director to not only have a happy ending but to prove a point that men can take care of children just as well as a woman can.

Genre Analysis

Meeting your signifigant other's parents is never an easy task, and when you have parents like Jack (Robert DeNiro) and Dina (Blythe Danner). Gaylord aka Greg (Ben Stiller) has been dating Pam (Teri Polo) for a while and thinks he has definitely found his soul mate and wants to marry her. While in the middle of proposing Pam recieves a phone call from her sister Debroah (Nicole DeHuff) telling her that she had been proposed to and that she was happy that her fiancee had enough respect to ask her dad before he propsed to her. With that in mind Greg wanted to do the same out of respect for Pam's father.

Pam and Greg pack up and travel to attend Pam's sister wedding and for Greg to finally meet Pam's parent's. From the moment Pam and Greg arrived Jack attempts to intimidate Greg in every possible way by questioning his profession (nurse) and even commenting about the color of his car and the list goes on and on. Pam's parents make Pam and Greg sleep and different rooms because they aren't married and does this purposly. Jack has a hidden camera staged in the room watching Greg's every move in the room, major invasion of privacy. Jack stops at nothing to ensure that Greg is respectable enough to be dating his daughter Pam.  Jack even goes as far as giving Greg a lie detector test to ensure that his relationship with Pam has been going the way that it should from his perspective and he asks personal questions to purposely make Greg feel uncomfortable.

Greg does everything possible to prove to Jack and Pam's family that he can be Pam's future husband but all of his attempts seem to back fire some type of way. On several accounts Greg attempts to please the family. Jinnxi, Jacks unusally talented cat goes missing because of Greg and he goes as far as buying a cat that resembles Jinnxi just to please the family. Of course his master plan back fires and leaves the family hating Greg more than ever. Greg seems to have bad luck all together in one particular scence Greg's luggage get lost at the airport so he has to wear some of Pam's younger brother's clothing which happens to have a pipe in the pants pocket that falls out while near Jack. From then on Jack begins to serve hints about smoking marajuana and how it's bad for you, no matter how much Greg attempts to express to Jack that he doesn't smoke Jack dismisses it thinking that Greg is a habitual liar. Greg also accidently breaks Debroah's nose while playing volley ball in the pool and the haterd for Greg continues to grow.
Comedy has alot of differnt influences the first every being brought to films was slapstick comedy that was used in silent films. Verbal absueridy comes with thoughtful humor which is depicted in the scene where Jack and Pam's ex takes a stab at Greg's religion. Greg is Jewish and every one else is Jewish making him extremely uncomfortably with what they both are saying to him. Another example of verbal comedy would be the scene where they all are having breakfast and Jack brings up that Greg is a nurse knowing that Debroah's fiancee is a doctor.

Individualized Performance

There's definitely something about Mary (Cameron Diaz) that keeps everybody wanting more! Ted (Ben Stiller) is a man that can't get his high school crush off of his mind, even thirteen years later he still can't seem to shake the infamous Mary from his thoughts. Ted had an amazing opportunities that definitely did not come to teenagers of his stature. Ted was the geeky type while Mary was the most popular female in school that wanted to go to prom with him. Unfortunately Ted accidentally zips his penis in his pants causing him to bleed massively leading him to the hospital which lead him to miss out on his prom. Ted was not only mad that he would miss out on his prom, but he would miss out on a shot of a lifetime with Mary.
With all of these horrible memories of the past fifteen years later Ted still wants to date Mary and find out if she's interested. Finding Mary would be a very difficult search considering the fact that Ted has no idea where to start. Ted decides to hire a private investigator named Healy (Matt Dillon) that does in deed find Mary and is intrigued with what he sees. He too begins to slowly but steadily began to fall for Mary, and leads him to give Ted false information about Mary. Healy tells Ted that Mary has tons of kids and has gained hundreds of pounds to detour Ted from liking Mary anymore. This information really shocks Ted because he didn't think Mary would grow up to be the type of woman to let herself go like that. Ted's friend Bob (Willie Garson) tells Ted that he recently saw Mary at a convention in Florida and she looked great! (IMBd)

Ted soon realizes that all of the information was a lie that Healy stated about Mary. But why would Healy lie to him about information about Mary? Healy moves to Florida to pursue Mary and Ted discovers this when he flys to Florida to find Mary and confess his love. Ted eventually finds Mary and scores a date with her. The date didn't go as planned but it definitely was much better than the incident before prom. Tucker (Lee Evans) an admirer of Mary's for a while is threatened by the new men in Mary's life and does not like it, so he begins to provide information about Healy's criminal record to Mary which detour's her from him and centers her concentration on Ted. Healy and Tucker end up working together to break up the connection that Mary and Ted has but is unsuccessful at it.
This film can be categorized as individualized because of the signifigance that Mary's character portrays. Mary's character is a great example of an individualized character because she has distinctive moments that only Mary would perform in throughout the film. For an example the simple fact that Mary would even seriously consider Ted as a prom date considering their social differnces proves that Mary is a very individualstic person. Mary's facial expressions as well as her clothing and overall attitude proves this. The scence where Mary and Ted go on a date after fifteen years is another example of how Mary's character is individualized. In that particualr scence Mary goes to the bathroom to put gel on her hair and comes out with a portion of her hair sticking up on the top of her head. Mary being the corky person that she is doesn't even notice while Ted does but he likes her so much that he doesn't even mention it.

Wedding Crashers

To meet a different woman every week you what be surprised what some men would do. John (Owen Wilson) and Jeremy (Vince Vaughn) are two best friends that know how to rock any wedding.  Both men work as mediators and crash weddings as a hobby. Whether the wedding is someone that these men know or may not know if the bridesmaids are hot they will be there. The two men use the atmosphere of the wedding and the women as a way to womanize them. Special wedding rules is the code that both men abide by until John falls in love with one of the bridesmaids without even sleeping with her.
After the wedding both men get invited on a trip with the brides family because the family becomes pretty fond of both men despite the fact that nobody exactly knows where these men derived from. Even though Jeremy tags along on the trip he feels as though John is breaking the rules they originally came up with to catch some girl which is not cool. Claire (Racheal McAdams) and John began to have chemistry that  is evident to the whole family including Claire's fiancee Sack (Bradley Cooper). Sack doesn't appreciate John attempting to make moves on his fiancee so he does research about John and Jeremy. As soon as Sack found out all the evidence he needed on the two men he made sure to tell the whole family leaving John and Jeremy pressed with a reasoning to why they were even there. Lies couldn't save John or Jeremy and with that the family kicked both men off of the trip. Throughout the trip Jeremy also falls for someone himself and breaks the rules Claire's sister Gloria (Isla Fisher). While John was chasing after Claire all the time Jeremy and Gloria were flirting here and there themselves.

John becomes love sick after being casted away by Claire's family and doesn't know how to handle possibly missing out on the love of his life. Eventually Claire and John meet again and actually talk about what happened and why. With Claire not truly loving her fiancee and having love for John made her decision of leaving Sack easy. Both men found love and began to engage in true mature relationships. I'm sure John and Jeremy never thought that one particular wedding would change their lives for a lifetime.
The symptomatic meaning behind wedding crashers is the social context of believing that to be looked up to as a man you can't be faithful in a relationship. These men in this movie look at crashing weddings and sleeping with bridesmaids as something that is "cool" and "fun". In reality growing up and becoming a real man does not include this type of actions. The two women (Claire & Gloria) change the whole perspective of how these men view women. Although the process of how the men got to that point was out of the ordinary, it still happened and both men learned to appreciate and value women in a better way than before.

Mise-en-Scene

Imagine being the most unpopular kid in high school and having one chance to change it all with a bottle of alcohol. The deal sounds too good to be true right? That's what Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera) thought too, so there was no doubt in these teenagers minds that they wouldn't get the alcohol for the popular kids, so they thought. Besides not being cool Seth and Evan also have other problems with themselves that they want to fix before going to college. They both are virgins! To a teenage male still being a virgin in high school is a big deal and somewhat embarrassing from their perspectives.

 Getting alcohol and being under age can be extremely hard if you don't have an adult on your side willing to purchase it. Seth and Evan even went as far as buying a fake ID to do so. The adventure that Seth and Evan go through just to obtain this alcohol will keep you laughing. The two teenage males end up running from the police all for a bottle of alcohol. The plan was initially that Seth and Evan would purchase the bottle of alcohol that would help the two ladies (Jules & Becca) become more interested in having sex with them because they would be drunk. This idea certainly did not go far because it was never successfully completed. Even though Seth and Evan did eventually obtain the alcohol they never lost their virginity they did realize how much they would truly miss each other when they both went their separate ways to college.

Most of the setting of the film takes place at a high school and also at a party towards the end. The clothing throughout the film seem kind of retro and older fashion but on the con trier the characters were  also using cell phones so it is somewhat difficult to name an exact time period. The film never mentions an exact time or location of where the film was suppose to take place. The lighting throughout the film that was used the most was frontal lighting because we as the audience rarely saw any form of shadows. Top lighting was used a lot for the scene where the police officers and Fogell began to perform car tricks with the police car. The scene where Fogell shoots a gun for the first time has some implements of frontal lighting.

The costumes and make up and this film definitely fit the characters. The high school students were dressed as such, it wasn't hard to determine who was a part of the "in crowd" and who was not. The popular kids had on clothing such as Lettermann jackets that showed that they belonged to some sort of team at school. The kids who weren't popular had on clothing such as high risen pants like Fogell aka Mc'Lovin (the last name on the fake id) who happened to be a close friend of Seth and Evan who also helped obtain the alcohol throughout the film. The teachers, police officers and other people with a form of title also were clothed appropriately to fit there role.

Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry has come a long way from the homeless man who once lived in his car. The comedian/actor/film writer is extremely talented and in his films, it definitely shows. Tyler Perry has made 18 films not including the plays that all usually have some type of deep symptomatic meaning. His movies are usually categorized as drama/comedy. "Daddy's Little Girl's" is a great example of how Perry combines drama and comedy together.
"Daddy's Little Girl's is a very cultured movie that a lot of African American men can relate to in particular and definitely have a significant meaning at the end. The film is about an African American man named Monty (Idris Elba) that wants full custody of his daughters. The mother, Jennifer (Tasha Smith) is unfit and dates the biggest drug dealer in the neighborhood that constantly puts his daughters at risk of danger. Monty definitely does not agree with these circumstances and wants to put an end to it all. To make ends meet Monty begins to work for a limousine company that assigns him to a lonely single lawyer, Julia (Gabrielle Union).  Julia portrays herself as a stuck up black woman who has a huge problem finding her soul mate.
One day while escorting Julia home Monty receives a phone call stating that his daughters almost burned down his apartment and received injury themselves as well. With information stating that the children were left at home unattended while their father was at work forced the hospital to get child protective services involved which makes it even harder for Monty to get any kind of custody. Monty is a poor African American man that is barely making it throughout life does not have money to hire a good lawyer so Julia decides to take his case and help him get his kids back. Jennifer inspired Julia to help Monty obtain full custody of his daughters because she had witnessed how horrible Julia treated the children and Monty. With the help of Julia Monty eventually did receive full custody of his children and his daughters would grow up in a safe environment with their father. (IMBd)

The symptomatic meaning behind this film can be looked at from many different ways. The social ideology of this movie measured up to statistics. When most people look at the ghetto of a typical black neighborhood, the problems presented throughout this movie were accurate. A loving father wanting custody of his children usually would be something that is looked down upon because most believe that the mother is and should be the primary care taker of children. In a situation that happens, less than often the mother is unfit and justice was served.
The significance of this film is the love that a man has for his children are unconditional. If Monty did not want to obtain his children for the right reasons this would definitely be evident. The mother Jennifer did not truly have her children’s well being at heart; it was evident that she did not care how a mother should care for her children. The meaning behind this film tells the audience that fighting for what you believe in and standing by your world can work in your favor if you just put your mind to it. Monty did just that and got all three of his daughters back from their mother.

Implicit & Symptomatic Meaning

The movie Bride Wars is a film about two best friends who have dreams as children to get married at an ideal venue at the Plaza Hotel. Coincidental both women get proposed to by their boyfriends on the same day and of course both women want to have their weddings at the Plaza Hotel but realistically one of the women will have to give up their dreams of having their wedding at the venue. The Plaza Hotel is a very popular place to have a wedding and the only two avaliable spots proves this. Not only are there just two avaliable spots for the rest of the year, both of the times are the same as well. Neither one of the women want to give up their dreams of having their wedding at the Plaza Hotel and they make this evident throughout the movie. (IMDb)
Both women work extremely hard to sabotage each others wedding since they both agreed to not attend each other's wedding because of the wedding date and location (The Plaza). This also played a huge role in the decision making that their friends have. Having the same friends in the same circle began to cause a critized loop because both women would talk about each other to their mutual friends, this was just one of the things that these woman do to annoy one another.  Emma delibrately sent Liv chocalate everyday to her office to make her gain weight so it would become difficult for her to fit into her wedding dress. Liv has been the one that always mostly got what she wanted under most of the circumstances. Emm(Anne Hathaway) is a teacher that is more laid back and less confrontational than Liv. Emma wants to prove to Liv that she isn't a push over and that he deserves her wedding at the Plaza more than she does. The funny comedy is a film that I definitely reccomend watching, it will keep you at the edge of your seat wanting more.

The symptomatic meaning of a film deals with the signifigance of the film as a whole feeding off of social and historical contexts. The signifigance of this film doesn't become evident until the end when Liv and Emma fight in their  wedding gowns at Liv's wedding because Liv replaces Emma's wedding song with a wild college video of Emma. While fighting both women began to cry and realize that a wedding is one day of your life but a friendship is a life time. Thinking about how long and far these two women have came together while knowing one another plays a huge factor in why fighting is not worth it when valuing a relationship on any kind.
The implicit meaning is basiclly the interpretation of the film in general. The interaction between the two women and the content of their relationship when the feud first began with the women. Both women came off as very individualistic and determined. The determination of these women was the main concept of the film, when you want something as bad as The Plaza it proves that you never know the lengths that you may actually go to get what you want.
